Where to Park a Car

The way the news media is talking, before this hurricane is over every tree in metro DC will be blown down. We can expect 70+ miles per hour gusts from 6pm tonight to 3am tomorrow. The last thing I want is a tree limb or a whole tree crashing on my car.

So I took a look at the satellite view of my apartment parking lot and determined the location that is farthest from any tree, and moved my car there. Anal? Or smart? You be the judge. But while everyone else if fighting with their insurance companies over the tree damage, I’ll be happy that my 12-year-old beast lived through it unscathed.

Thankfully, not my car.

You are a brave man to go out in these winds to move your car. We are in total lock-down here: nothing moves that isn’t emergency related. Those who didn’t heed the warning to evacuate must remain where they are for the duration – probably Tuesday afternoon. Just pray that you don’t lose power.

Stay safe.
Cheers.

It’s only smart if there are no downed power lines or other debris in the path of your car.

I’d call it smartly anal.

Mine is parked in a treeless expanse behind the state police headquarters as I while away my time in the EOC…hopefully nothing will blow into it!

Peace! Safety!

So far most of the wind is coming from the weather forecasters. Now your car should be safe unless a house falls on it.

And then you’ll have to deal with the Munchkins and finding your way home (just ignore the man behind the curtain ;-) .
