Last night my husband Greg and I watched Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close (2011). What a tearjerker.
I can relate to the young man, Oskar, on so many levels. He thinks in a way that is “different” from everyone else and only his father could truly understand him. When his father was murdered in the 9/11 terror attack, he was left seemingly alone in the world, with a mother who could not/would not understand him.
In the panic of 9/11 Oskar was frozen with fear and failed to do something important as a result of it. Something very important. He spent the rest of the film trying to redeem himself and come to peace with his father’s death.
In every scene I could see myself in Oskar. So many times I found myself in tears or choked up. I’m choking up again just writing this.
If you haven’t seen this film, do yourself a favor and see it right away.

I think Thomas Horn (Oskar) deserved to be nominated for the Academy Award; not so much Max von Sydow.
It does rank right up there, doesn’t it?
should check this out
I really loved the book. I will try to watch the movie…
