Yesterday my husband Greg and I took a short trip over to Annapolis, Maryland to attend the DCA World Championships preliminary competition. My interest comes from reading all about CB’s (Mangina Monologues) experiences in the Minnesota Brass drum and bugle corps for the last three years. I got really excited when I learned the championships were held so close to our new home. I just had to see and hear what excites CB so much.
Let me tell you, it was a THRILL to be there!
The musical talent! The precision! The theatrics! The skill! I was kind of blown away.
The evening didn’t go as scheduled. CB’s corps was due up 3rd from the end. When there were five corps left to compete, the stadium officials called a rain/lightning delay. That lasted about 1.5 hours and we probably got over an inch of rain. Then two more corps competed before we had another 1.5 hour rain/lightning delay. Finally, three hours after his corps was originally scheduled to compete, Minnesota Brass took the field and kicked some serious ass.
I think there were a dozen corps in the championship preliminary round last night. Minnesota Brass finished 2nd, which means they advance to the finals and compete 2nd from last tonight. The big question is, will the rain hold off? The storms we had last night were not even predicted. Tonight the prediction is for isolated, but heavy storms. The radar doesn’t look good. Everybody cross your fingers and toes and hope CB’s drum corps can play tonight and give another outstanding performance.

The story of Bonnie & Clyde.

CB is somewhere in that mass of brass. Can you pick him out?

hard to find him when his band mates are dressed alike…perhaps he should wear a “where’s waldo” shirt…
He’s the one with the hairy chest, shirt and flag. LOL
Of course: he’s the pretty one!
Awwww! I’m do glad you liked it. And I’m humbled that you waited out those fucking delays! But we were so hype to just get to perform that night, that our prelims show was on fire. Glad you got to see it!!! Thanks do much and tell your hubby I’m sorry he had to sit through all that!
