I think this preliminary report may be just that, Cubby – ‘preliminary’. In fact not only is it not on the latest BBC science website, after a cursory check of the Internet I still can’t find it. But you may well be right. However, never say die! If it turns out to be the case I certainly will be down-hearted, but only temporarily. I’d just LOVE in my own lifetime to see those God-botherers trying to explain away the literal truth of Genesis – but we all know that they will. (Btw: You may already know that it’s now considered a perfectly feasible scenario for the seeds of life on Earth to have originated from a Mars-originating meteorite.)
If the Red Planet does turn out to be as arid and lacking in evidence of past (or present? – most unlikely) primitive life, then we’ll have to look to Europa. You may see it happen – but I can’t wait that long. Anyway, fingers and toes still crossed for Mars.
You beat me to it. I saw this on facebook and I loved it. I was going to post this picture…
We share a common sense of humour I guess
bwhahahahaha!
Oh blimey! Did I just make a fool of myself by not seeing the joke for the trees?
I was wondering if you hadn’t looked at the pic. There is another pic going around I like with Curiosity in the foreground and Star Wars Imperial troop carriers in the background. I wanted to use that one but couldn’t find it when I needed it.
As far as I know, NASA has made no big announcements, although I think it is just a matter of time until biological evidence is found. I wonder if it will be in any way similar to the biology of Earth?
We all wait for the evidence that there is life elsewhere, or even that there WAS life outside earth but in our immediate neighbourhood. It’ll come – it’s inevitable. Exciting times, Cubby!
