My boy Sean over at Just a Jeep Guy posts questions and answers every Thursday, and invites bloggers to participate by doing the same. (He previews the questions beforehand so that bloggers can post them on Thursday). So here I go.
ROAD TRIP
Worst experience you ever had in a car? (not including accidents)
Well, I started writing out this answer three times and had to delete what I wrote because an accident was involved. So I’ll tell you this sad story instead: when I was about seven years old my father was in a bad mood and I must have said something wrong (I still don’t know what it was), and he flipped out and stopped the car and came into the back seat and attacked me while my mother and brother remained silent. I cried for days. Not because of the pain, but because of the feeling of utter rejection I felt.
Driver or navigator?
I like driving, but so does Greg. We are both equally skilled in navigation, so we split up the driving.
Planes, trains or automobiles?
Prefer the freedom of a car. Now that we live in metro DC trains are available to us, and I like the DC Metro system. As far as planes go, I hate the way passengers are treated like livestock.
Best road trip?
Recently we drove to Asheville, NC and the Great Smoky Mountains. That was a great roadtrip.
What’s the farthest you’ve gone in a car? Sex, not distance.
In high school my friend Jerry and I used to blow each other in the car all the time.
Bonus Question
What kind of car do you drive? What kind do you dream of?
I drive a beige Nissan Maxima but dream of driving a yellow Maserati.

The 1st part was hard to read : (
Hard to imagine a parent doing that to his young child. Heartbreaking….
I too stopped in the first paragraph.
First reaction to reading your worst experience was to think that your Dad had been having a tough day or tough time – and that you said something innocent which triggered his explosion, needlessly taking all his built up frustration on you – rather in the way that you see and hear of people attacking their innocent and helpless pet dogs or whatever. Just a thought.
It seems like the real pain came from you mom and brother not defending you. Then I thought, they probably had been beaten down already and couldn’t help.
I’m sorry you remembered that.
