The Jeffersons theme song has been running through my head for a whole week now, and it makes me smile all the time!
My husband Greg and I leased a deluxe apartment in the sky in Alexandria, VA. It will be the first time either of us will have lived in any sort of high-rise. I hope it’s not too shocking to our senses. I hope we don’t have to listen to straight people breeding every night, or little babies wailing all the time. And I really hope there are other gay folks in the building.
We got final approval on the lease yesterday. We are excited to be moving there. So much is happening, we are so busy these last few weeks. Sorry for the lack of blog posts. We will be moving into the new apartment two weeks from today and have a lot to do as far as throwing stuff away, selling stuff, having a yard sale where we will practically give away that which we don’t sell ahead of time, and then packing the rest up for the long haul.
Dayton was named recently in a national magazine as having the lowest cost of living in the entire country. The DC metro area, on the other hand, is consistently rated as having one of the highest. We are going from one extreme to the other. Our apartment rent is over twice that of our rental house here in Dayton, with much less living space and no storage space. But we are making do. Greg has been saying for years we need to downsize and get rid of all of our crap. And that’s exactly what we are doing.

Sounds exciting …and stressful…at least it would be for me. Downsizing is good too. When we live in our camper with 1/10 of the stuff we have at home we do just fine. I’m sure there will be lot’s of pluses and things to do and see to make up for stuff you will no longer have.
sending good vibrations/karma your way for a smooth move!
In the sky-y-y-y-y!
Cool move. And I’m sure you’ll be happier in new digs and a new town!
Exciting stuff! Thanks for the update!!
It’s amazing how much crap you can accumulate over the years! Throwing stuff/giving stuff away is really cathartic. Enjoy the purge and good luck with you move!
love the good news posts
