My, you bloggers have been a busy bunch in the month and a half I’ve been away. I have a whole lot of blog posts to catch up on. I’m reading them, but forgive me for not commenting on many of them.
Does anyone else feel this way: completely relieved the holiday season is over? The weeks from mid-November to Jan. 2 is shear torture and I’m so glad they are over. Everything seems brighter outside (literally and figuratively). We got a little snow yesterday that stuck and now everything is beautiful white. I have a huge smile on my face now

We had a relatively quiet holiday. Some friends in for Christmas Eve dinner, and then a New Year’s Day soiree, but I am glad it’s past.
Moving on………
I’m relieved that it’s over in the sense that it was our first family Christmas with my wife and I living in different houses. A few months ago we weren’t getting along very well so I extremely concerned, anticipating conflict as to who the kids will be with on specific days. Another possibility would have had me spending a lot of the time alone as happens to so many gay Dads in my situation.
Then during a casual conversation about a month ago, we quickly came to an agreement (The kids would have Christmas dinner with me, New Years’ Day dinner with my wife etc …. ) It worked out amazingly well and in the end, I was also invited to my wife’s “Christmas Dinner” on Boxing Day, Dec. 26. The holiday could not have gone better.
Can’t imagine that there are many people who are actually SORRY that it’s over. Maybe some kids, perhaps, but few adults. Now then, how many shopping days have we got until……?
It ain’t over until the Feast of the Epiphany.
Well, if you want to be technical, it really isn’t over until the highest holy day of all has passed. Of course, I’m referring to Super Bowl Sunday.
James & I are always very relieved when January 2nd rolls around.
We had a quiet Christmas in The Woods, just the two of us, which we did for the first time last year. I love establishing new traditions!
To us, the holidays are a time to be thankful for everything in our lives. I just wish that when people go out & about in their cars and stores during the holidays, that they would exhibit more “good will towards men”. Everyone seems so wired and stressed. Not very jolly.
I’m glad the holidaze are over for another year.
thank dog it’s over for another year! now, baseball season begins 2/19/12…WOO HOO!
I enjoy the holidays because I get time off from work and am able to get some serious rest and relaxation.
And with the holidays off I get my two weeks of vacation to play with. I’ll take some time off around Memorial Day, and then a day or two around Gay Pride NYC, and a couple more around the 4th of July.
So it works out.
Being in retail you can not imagine how happy I am to see its over!!! That was so painful. Christmas music (5 songs) playing over and over again. No time off to shop, work work work work. Yes I am glad its all over with!
But I am also happy to be back to blogging and seeing what is up with my friends. (other than facebook)
The new year was quite fun. Went to friends house and enjoyed fireworks from there and had a wonderful turkey dinner.
You may not like the US super-holiday-season of 8 weeks or so, but I personally love having the time off work and relaxing!
Anyway, happy new year and I look forward to reading another year of your blogging.
Now it’s on into the new year. In my business, it never stops. Here’s hoping it’s a great year for us all.
Cheers.
I’m trying to play catch up too
I’m glad the white stuff gave your face a smile.
BEHR HUGS!
I for one and glad the “holiday” season is over. Everything seems thrown out of whack. Things are getting back to normal, thank God.
